Happening Now in Annapolis: The Maryland Renaissance Festival!
This year’s Maryland Renaissance Festival is shaping up to be a good time! Come to 1821 Crownsville Road in Annapolis on weekends through October 20th for a day full of fun in the vein of Medieval history. This year’s storyline takes place during the early 1500’s, the time of Henry VIII’s reign. His first wife Katherine of Aragon has been banished from the kingdom, so that Henry can pursue the gorgeous Anne Boleyn.
Revel Grove is the site of all the action, where attractions of all kinds can be found. With an abundance of food and shopping options, there’s plenty here to get you in the spirit of the proceedings. Some 200 performers spanning 10 stages will provide the entertainment, as will the 3,000-seat jousting arena, which is sure to thrill with fierce and authentic combat inside. If you really want to immerse yourself in this world, stop by the costume rental booth to pick up garb that suits your character. As you explore the grounds, you’ll come across a number of interesting characters, played by talented local actors!
