Now Open Near Arbors at Arundel Preserve: Screamin’ Agnes in Elkridge
Screamin’ Agnes is a coffee shop and cafe named after Hurricane Agnes, which flooded much of Elkridge when it came roaring through the region in 1972. Despite its name, however, regulars say the shop’s atmosphere is anything but stormy. Yelpers praise the staff for being warm, friendly, and efficient, while local news coverage describes the shop as a valuable, one-of-a-kind addition to historic Main Street. In fact, Screamin’ Agnes is part of the city’s major Main Street revitalization project, and opened its doors this past October, along with a few other key anchor businesses.
The drinks menu includes your standard coffee shop lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos, while the food menu is a bit more adventurous. Try a bowl of soup or the warm lentil salad on a chilly winter day, or go for one of the house-made sandwiches. Screamin’ Agnes also regularly invites local musicians to play, so you might have the pleasure of tapping your toes to an acoustic jazz duo while you enjoy your drink or meal.
