Check Out What’s New at the Elkridge Library
In 2018, the Elkridge Library got a makeover with a brand-new building. From a cafe to fuel your reading to the “Children’s Reef” youth section showcasing its aquatic theme, the library has something to do for everyone. In fact, a look at their calendar shows very few days without a children’s program or event (or several) going on, including Let’s Celebrate Black History Month, Book Buddies, and Sensory Friendly Stories & Fun. Another highlight of the library is its DIY Education Center, a unique initiative to make tools and learning accessible for DIY-ers of all experience levels. The Center focuses on three categories: DIY Repair & Maintain, DIY Create, and DIY Adventure.
Alongside the Howard County Library System’s educational mission pillars of self-directed education, research assistance and instruction, and instructive and enlightening experiences, this is a fantastic source for experiential learning. To borrow from the DIY Education Center, anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Maryland may apply for an HCLS DIY library card; a standard library card does not qualify.
